What Water is Better to Water the Seedlings?

In the cultivation of seedlings, there are many subtleties and secrets: some relate to specific crops, and others are general in nature. The irrigation regime, as well as its methods, varies depending on the type of plant and its age. But there are general recommendations that indicate what kind of water should be watered with seedlings and that will “work” in any case.

First of all, you need to take care of the appropriate temperature of the life-giving moisture. Optimal – +20…+25°C (68-77°F), so before watering, you need to heat the water or let it stand in the room. It should be noted that it is not necessary to boil irrigation water, since it loses oxygen in this process.

Remember when you noticed the most lush green growth? Of course, after the rain! Meltwater or rainwater is best suited for seedlings. If you have the opportunity to collect fresh snow, then take advantage of this. But in urban environments, it’s often hard to find clean snow.

Water from a water pipe, as a rule, contains a lot of calcium and magnesium salts, that is, very hard. For plants, especially such young ones as seedlings, such moisture is not useful. And if you add chlorine… Such water can be filtered or settled for 1-2 days, and then used.

Tap water is not suitable

But really living water can be obtained by freezing ordinary water. To do this, we fill it in a plastic container, but not to the brim, since we need to remember that water expands when it freezes.

A container of water is placed in the freezer and kept for some time. The caveat is not to let the water freeze completely. For example, a liter of capacity on average requires about an hour of stay in the freezer.

Getting “live water”

After most of the water has frozen (ice has formed in the center of the vessel), the rest of it must be drained. Crystallizing, the water becomes clean and soft, displaces unnecessary impurities in the thawed residue.

Then the resulting ice is thawed without the use of heating devices, allowed to warm up to room temperature and that’s it, “living water” is ready! This will be very good for our seedlings.
