Electronic Tortilla Will Save the Garden From Weeds

Spread the love

We all want our garden to be perfect. But to achieve this ideal is always something hinders. This can be weather conditions, pests and diseases. And even if the hydrometeorological center promises the sun and only the rains necessary for watering, and all the creeping and flying “green bellies” bypass our garden, there is always another attack – weeds. Now tell me, do you like weeding? Most likely, the answer is obvious-No.

Gardeners often forget about weeds, but weeds never forget to grow. Starting the garden season, we all intend to give our flower beds and flower beds regular attention, but sometimes life intervenes. Each of us was faced with the fact that after a week of absence, “suddenly” found his ideal garden, all clogged with weeds.

Don’t panic! New technologies are coming to the rescue

A team of engineers from Franklin Robotics in Massachusetts came up with Tertill – a small robot that will destroy weeds in your garden. Tertill’s sole purpose is weeding, so he never forgets his duties, never gets distracted, and never goes on vacation. Because he lives in your garden.

How it works

Meet Tertil, the weed storm. Your possible new garden helper, who will never give up on the garden bed, is like a cake box. Or technical turtle, where the name of the robot: Tertill is consonant with the English turtle.

Under the “belly” it has a small trimmer, along the circumference of the sides – sensors that will help the robot avoid the destruction of useful plants and will not allow the device to get stuck somewhere, climbing between the stones.

Four diagonally positioned wheels allow the robot to move confidently and overcome the terrain. And on the” back “of the electronic “turtle” there is a small solar battery with a built-in battery, which allows the device to be constantly in the garden in working condition.

When the sun is shining brightly, the robot is most “aggressive” in patrolling the garden. Why? Because weeds grow most actively in sunny weather.

How a robot distinguishes a weed from a useful plant

In general, so far, nothing. Gardeners just need to first limit the useful planting to special fences. And all sprouting weeds Tertill must find and destroy. And when the landing is large and falls into the “visibility” zone of the robot’s onboard sensors, it will bypass them. Therefore, of course, the robot gardener should appear on the beds from the very beginning of the season, so as not to allow weeds to grow.

The robot is not the only technological device that inventors are trying to introduce into the daily lives of farmers.

Tertill from “Franklin Robotics” is born before our eyes. The developers planned to raise funds for the project through Kickstarter, a platform created to help implement various creative projects. And the robot Tertill is a success: the creators have already managed to raise more money than they expected.

If you are interested in the tertill robot, you can make a pre-paid order, thereby becoming the owner of the next season’s technology assistant for weed control and project support. The total cost of the device deposit is $ 249.
