How to make a nice long-lasting high bed? Every active summer resident faces such a question. The easiest way is to make it out of boards, but they darken over time, and when the wood comes into contact with the ground, it rots. Casting the sides of the bed of concrete is troublesome, and then you can’t move the bed around the site.
I found in the online store a 1 × 2 m prefabricated bed made of galvanized, covered with plastic. I decided to try to order, install — and check how long it will stand. In the description of the product it was written: “The service life of the product is from 5 years.” The courier brought the parcel to the office at the end of April — in May it was possible to start assembling.

The parts of the set are placed in a box with a length of just over 2 m.
We open the box, in it we find 8 parts for the bed frame and fasteners.
The sides of the bed with a height of 20 cm are made of profile galvanized, which is covered with plastic. The inner side is white, the outer side is green. The columns are made of galvanized corner covered with plastic.
The sides are attached to the posts with two screws. Nuts, screws and washers were included.
First you need to combine the holes. Then we connect them with screws.
To assemble it, I needed a wrench and a screwdriver. Without a wrench, it will not be possible to tighten the nuts securely.
On the one hand, we attach the board to the column with two bolts.
We mount two walls and assemble a rectangle from them.
The sides of the bed are assembled. It is necessary to prepare a place for installation.
Using the grandfather’s method of marking, I drove in pegs and pulled the cord, enclosing a rectangle measuring 1×2 m. I removed the turf to a depth of 10 cm.
There were roots. The thick chestnut root clearly interfered with the realization of my plan. No way without a saw and an axe.
A thin root is easier to cut off, but then I had to saw!
After I chose the turf, I installed the frame of the bed. I have previously made depressions under the corner columns. Without these recesses, it is better not to hammer the columns into the ground: they are made of fairly thin metal and can bend. The sides were set according to the level. He lightly hammered the posts into the ground with a sledgehammer. In order not to crumple the edges, I put a board.
I covered the bed with 10 centimeters of earth from the forest. Then he poured a layer of earth with humus.
The bed for planting cucumbers is ready!
The beginning of June — cucumbers have risen and feel good on a new bed.
