Bukhara Fleeceflower – Unpretentious Plant

Spread the love

Over the years of passion for floriculture, I have come to a firm belief: the more flowers are already growing in my flower beds, the more I want more and more new ones!

Flower shops, rows of plants in markets, friends, neighbors-everything falls into the search area. Believe me, even just walking down the street, looking at the view of all the front gardens, suddenly you will come across something interesting! Thus, the Bukhara fescue was discovered. However, I didn’t know his name, there was a green tip covered with white flowers at the top of the inner fence. Long, reddish shoots protruded from all sides, seeking support. Unable to leave, I knocked on the gate. The not very friendly owner of the Bukhara oatmeal did not understand my admiration for her plant. With great difficulty, I managed to persuade her to sell me the stem in the fall. It is a pity that she did not allow me to photograph her Bukhara Shepherd, but I will describe everything that I saw and learned. Maybe this idea will be useful to someone.

She had a rather old cherry tree. They cut down all the branches, leaving only a few skeletal ones, the largest, 1-1. 5 m (1.1-1.6 yard) long. The Bukhara fescue was planted directly in the trunk, which over the summer covered the trunk and formed a huge top of twisted shoots on the skeletal branches. Very soon there was almost such a picture in my house! Hoping for rapid growth, I planted a flowerbed near the old barn to admire the flowers and generally improve the appearance.

To tame the lush vine a little and prevent it from damaging the roof (it has old slate on it), I cut the oatmeal almost at roof level every fall. At first I couldn’t understand why he was so eager to go there. And then I realized – the sun! It is planted in a place where the sun is about until lunch, and then the shadow. On the shady side, the flowering is not so abundant.

Very valuable, in my opinion, the advantage of Bukhara oatmeal – it does not give root shoots, is resistant to diseases and pests. And it is easily propagated by cuttings, but does not like transplanting. If you decide to buy it, choose the option with a closed root system. I cut the cuttings last year, and the girls took one and planted it in the garden. They just stuck it in the ground and poured water on it. By the end of summer, the shoots were 3-4 m (3.3-4.4 yard), all covered with flowers! A friend saw this beauty and was stunned with admiration and wanted to have such a plant at home. We dug it up with a huge lump of earth, wrapped it in a damp cloth, and wrapped it in a plastic bag. Even so, the leaves drooped before our eyes … It is advised to prune after planting and watering, but in moderation. I hope that he will survive, and very soon my friend will have the same wonderful vine.
