In winter, you want a fresh green onion no less than in summer. What to do if the young suburban greenery is still far away? Of course, to plant a garden at home! Onion for distillation is best suited: it grows quickly, does not impose special requirements for lighting and care. We offer an option for compact placement of an onion bed on narrow windowsills.
Materials:
- any nutrient soil
- drainage
- plastic bottle (from 1.5 to 5 l)
- soldering iron (Scorcher, hot nail)
- small onions
A one-and-a-half-liter bottle takes up little space on the windowsill, and it also requires very little soil. It is desirable to soak the bulbs overnight in water and trim the growth point.
Progress of work
First, we make drainage holes in the bottom of the bottle. Then we step back from the bottom of 5-6 cm and make holes in a staggered order along the entire height of the bottle — for planting onions. For this work, you can use a soldering iron or a similar tool. The diameter of the holes should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the bulbs. Then cut off the top of the bottle.
At the bottom of the bottle, pour the drainage.
Then fill the container with soil to the level of the first row of holes, seal it well. Spread the prepared bulbs with the growth point outwards.
Fill up the soil to the next level of holes, seal, lay out the bulbs — and so on. On top of the filled bottle, plant a few bulbs vertically, slightly sinking; water.
