Celery repeated the fate of many other plants that came to us from afar, and was first grown as a decoration of parks, gardens and hairstyles of noble ladies. However, after realizing its useful properties, this plant began to be cultivated for use in food. Celery or perennial plants of medium to large size with a thickened root, preferring to grow on moist soils of swamps and salt marshes. They grow up to 1 m (1.1 yard) in height and have double pinnately dissected leaves on a furrowed branched stem and small greenish-white flowers collected in complex umbellate inflorescences.

All types of celery are best grown as seedlings. For the petiole and root-this is a prerequisite, and the leaf can be sown directly on the bed, but the seedling is preferable.

Celery seeds, like other umbrella crops, are coated with a thin layer of essential oil that prevents them from germinating. Therefore, when sowing dry seeds, they take a long time to shed. To speed up this process, soaking is well suited. You can use ordinary water (soak for two days), and it is better to pour the seeds with hot, but not boiling water-so that the hand endures (about 50°C/122°F). It is enough to stand them in this form for 5-7 minutes.

For growing celery seedlings, a light soil mixture is suitable. You can use ready-made universal soils, or if you stock your land, it should be carefully prepared.

Before sowing, the soil must be thoroughly moistened.

Seeds after soaking need to be dried a little, and then carefully spread out on the surface of a well-leveled soil. To do this, it is convenient to use a wooden skewer or tweezers. There is no need to seal the seeds.

Now you need to create a greenhouse, which is covered with a transparent lid or put a container with crops in a plastic bag. The container should be placed in a bright place and at a temperature of +18…+20 (64.4/68°F) degrees Celsius for 5-6 days you will see shoots. Dive seedlings with the appearance of 1-2 real leaves.
