There are places where you can’t grow a live lawn. One of the few but popular opportunities for landscaping hard-to-reach areas is artificial turf.
Artificial turf is:
- The base is a rolled fabric with synthetic grass stems.
- Adding rubber crumbs, quartz sand, drainage.
To make a full-fledged artificial lawn, the site is leveled, cleaned of debris and foreign objects, and then the lawn sheets are laid tightly. To make it stick well to the surface, it is abundantly watered. At first glance, everything is simple, but the installation requires skill.
Depending on the purpose, artificial lawns are divided into special and decorative.
Decorative lawns are used for the design, they imitate real grass, can be used both outdoors and indoors.
Special lawns are usually used to cover sports grounds. The difference between the coating for different sports is the density of the fabric and the height of the pile.
Fillers give artificial turf additional characteristics: for example, a rubber crumb protects an athlete from burns when falling, and using a rubber crumb plus sand, they divide the coating into fast and slow.
Artificial lawns are now used more often than live lawns, they have a number of advantages: a long service life (12-14 years), a high level of wear resistance, cost-effectiveness, ease of lawn care, use out of season (all year round).
