The best way to grow cucumbers is seedling. This is what most summer residents think. In the future, seedlings are usually planted on beds — in greenhouses or open ground. And today we will talk about how to plant grown seedlings in bags.
Why bags? This method is convenient because we get mobile beds: you can put the bag in any place, just bring it to the greenhouse when it gets cold. Bags will help out those who have a very small plot, where it is not possible to place everything on ordinary beds. Care of plants is simplified, weeding becomes almost unnecessary, and the harvest is easy to collect.
What bags
To grow cucumbers in this way, you will need strong bags made of dense polyethylene. Great packaging from purchased land: it is strong, and also opaque. The optimal volume of the bag is 50-60 liters, but even in a 20-liter cucumber will feel good — its root system is shallow.
What to fill in
We suggest filling the bags in this way. Mown lawn grass is put down (about half the volume of the bag). First, it will warm the cucumber plant, and then serve as its nutrition. A nutrient mixture is poured over it. This can be, for example, garden soil mixed with humus or compost in a ratio of 1:1.it is Important that the mixture is loose, air – and moisture-permeable. It is very good to add ash (1 bag 1 Cup). If you put enough organic matter under the plants, then no additional fertilizing will be required. Cucumbers will feel great and give an excellent harvest.
Small drainage holes should be made in the filled containers. At the end of the season, all the bags are emptied out and they do not need to be disposed of. This container can serve for at least 3 years. By the fall of the bottom layer of rot, all the filling settles. Next year, you will need to fill up with fresh grass and earth, and you can again use the bags in business.
Landing
The seedlings have grown just wonderful: strong, with thick stems and a powerful root system. Note that in the lowest part of the stem there are bumps — these are the beginnings of roots. Therefore, when planting a cucumber plant, you need to bury the most cotyledonous leaves. This way the root system will be more powerful, and the leaves and ovaries will receive more nutrition.
Bags with plants should be placed in such a way that it is possible to arrange a trellis for the garter of growing lashes. And there is another trick: when the crop from the lower ovaries is collected, and the stem begins to bare, it can be lowered into a bag, folding and sprinkling with earth. It will grow new roots, and the whole plant will be rejuvenated — to supply you with a crop until the cold weather!
