Daffodils (Narcissus) — one of the most common bulbous plants. In the spring they bloom in almost every country.

The genus Narcissus of the family Amaryllidaceae comprises about 50 species, native to the Mediterranean and adjacent areas.
The culture uses about 25 species and numerous varieties, combined under the name Narcissus Narcissus x hybridus hort.
Advantages of daffodils:
- undemanding to light;
- grow well on dry drained soils, do not suffer on heavy, wet;
- propagated subsidiaries bulbs;
- slugs are rarely damaged;
- winter, early spring flowering bulbs;
- in one place (without transplantation) grow for many years;
- relatively unpretentious in cultivation;
- good in various elements of garden design (flower borders, mixborders, rockeries, tree trunks under the trees, containers).

We are unlikely to confuse daffodils with other spring-flowering species. And from each other, for all their similarity, they differ so much that in the world assortment, numbering today more than 12,000 varieties, 11 garden groups are allocated. From them:
- 1-4 groups – based on flower shape, inflorescence structure;
- 5-11 groups of species Narcissus species (or their ancestors).

Narcissus garden variety ‘Mount Hood’
Ancient variety: created before 1938, the original P. van Deursten.
The stem height of 35-40 cm Flower milky white, with a diameter of 10 cm.
Interesting: in England, the share of this variety in industrial cultivation is 2%, in the Netherlands — 1% (data on A. Thompson).
Application: Trumpet daffodils are good for forcing, cutting, in various spring compositions.
