This is a perennial vine, which is characterized by rapid growth, endurance and, most importantly, a great, bright and long flowering. Early blooming varieties in the middle lane bloom in may, mass flowering — from June to frost.
Overview of varieties of clematis
From the variety of varieties we have chosen those that, in our opinion, are worthy of special attention of Amateur gardeners. Perhaps in this list you will find varieties that will decorate your garden.
‘Andromeda’
The flowers are semi-double, large, white and pink with a pink stripe. Shoots up to 3 meters. Look spectacular on a dark background. Flowering in may-June, repeated in September.
‘Asao’
Variety of Japanese selection with large flowers. Flowers open, pink, up to 15-18 cm in diameter. Liana up to 3 m long. Grows well in partial shade. Abundant flowering in may-June and August-September.
‘Baltyk’
Variety of Polish selection. Liana up to 3 meters long. Flowers open, purple, up to 12-14 cm in diameter, sepals 4-6. Flowering from may to June.
‘Barbara Dibley’
The Patens Group. Shrub vine length 2-2.5 m. Leaves are triple with whole, pointed-ovate leaves. Flowers open, star-shaped, 15-18 cm in diameter. Sepals 6-8, they are elongated-pointed, with wavy edges, pink-purple with purple-crimson stripe in the center (sometimes this band is not expressed), fade. Anthers are red-purple. Blooms profusely in may-June on the shoots of last year, in July-August flowering is repeated on the shoots of this year. Winter-hardy and resistant to fungal diseases. Recommended for group and single plantings, landscaping balconies, verandas, etc.
‘Belle of Woking’
Liana up to 2-3 meters long. Flowers are blue, open, Terry, 12-14 cm in diameter, sepals 4-6. Flowering abundant, from may to August. It is not recommended to plant on the North side (preferably Sunny place). The variety is winter hardy, plants can withstand temperatures down to minus 30 degrees
‘Bees Jubilee’
The Patens Group. Flowers in the hands, disc-shaped, large, 15-18 cm in diameter, bloom in the upper part of the shoots; anthers light. Sepals 6-8, they are pointed-elliptic, light purple with red-purple stripe. Shoots 2-3 m long leaves are simple or trifoliate, pointed-ovate. On last year’s shoots blooms in June, on the shoots of this year – from July to frost. Recommended for single and group landings, background creation, for containers.
‘Blekitny Aniol’ sin. ‘Blue Angel’
Liana 3-4 m long Flowers open, up to 12 cm in diameter, pale blue with yellow-green stamens, petals with wavy edges, sepals 4-6. Flowering in June–August. Ideal variety for vertical gardening walls, trellises, etc. Can be planted near natural supports: trees, large deciduous and coniferous shrubs. It can also be grown in large containers on terraces and balconies.
‘Carnaby’
Liana up to 3 meters. The flowers are large — up to 15 cm in diameter. Flowering abundant, from may to July. The color is pink and crimson with white edges on the edge of the petal. Partial shade is preferred. Recommended for group and single plantings, landscaping balconies, loggias.
‘Chalcedony’
English variety, hardy and fast-growing. Flowers Terry, blue, 12.5-15 cm in diameter. Have from 50 to 60 wide sepals, arranged in several rows. Blooms from late spring to early summer and the whole end of summer. Unpretentious to soil conditions.
‘Dr. Ruppel’
Flowers are 12-18 cm in diameter. Sepals 8, they are star-shaped, light purple with wine-red stripes. Leaves compound, imparipinnate. Woody vine length of 2.5-4 m Blooms on the shoots of last year in may-June, again – on the shoots of this year in September. Decorative throughout the flowering period, due to the unusual color. Used in single and group plantings near walls, trellises, tree trunks.
‘Duchess of Edinburgh’
Liana up to 3-4 meters. Flowers 10-12 cm in diameter, white flowers with a green tint, Terry. Flowering shoots last year and this year. Preferably a Sunny place. Excellent for decorating walls, trees, grids. Looks spectacular on a dark background. Flowering period-mid-June-August.
‘Ernest Markham’
Jackmanii Group. Variety bred in the UK in 1926. Shrub vine length 2,5-3,0 m flowers open, 11-14 cm in diameter. Sepals 6, wide, rounded, with slightly wavy edges, red-crimson color; anthers light brown. Leaves are simple and trifoliate. Blooms profusely during the summer before frost (July-September) on the shoots of the current year.
‘Guernsey Cream’
The flowers are white with a yellow tint and a green stripe in the center, the sun is pure white. More interesting on a dark background. Blooms from may to July and from late August to frost. Recommended for single and group plantings and containers.
‘Hagley Hybrid’
Jackmanii Group. Shrub Liana up to 2.5 m. Leaves complex, 3-5 whole, rarely lobed, pointed-ovate leaves. Elongated buds sticking up. Flowers open, 12-18 cm in diameter, on long peduncles. Sepals 6, they are pointed-elliptic with wavy edges, pinkish with a pearlescent hue. Anthers purple-red. Blooms profusely in the summer (end of June-August) on the shoots of the current year. Tying a single seed. Hardy. Recommended for group and single plantings, landscaping balconies, loggias.
‘Jan Pawel II’
Strong-growing vine up to 5-6 m long. Flowers 15-18 cm in diameter, pinkish-white. Pale pink color of the petals becomes more intense by autumn. Flowering from July to September. For abundant flowering plants require a lot of moisture.
‘Kakio’, sin. ‘Pink Champagne’
Variety bred in Japan. Flowers pink-red, open, large. Sepals 4-6. Flowering long, from may to June on the shoots of last year and from August to frost on the shoots of this year. Plants do not tolerate hot sun, so it is not recommended to plant on the South side. Well suited for vertical gardening arbors, walls. Can be well used in compositions with small trees and shrubs. Great variety for small gardens and large containers on terraces and balconies.
‘Kardynal Wyszynski’
Floriferous Polish cultivar with bright colors. Flowers are red, 15 cm in diameter. The landing – sun, partial shade. It is recommended to plant at fences, walls, arbors and different supports, and also about small trees and bushes. Excellent plant for growing in containers.
‘Lasurstern’
German variety. Flowers open, large, 15-20 cm in diameter. Sepals 6, with wavy edges, dark blue, fade to dark blue. Anthers are pale yellow. Shrub vine length of 2.5-3 m with dark brown shoots. Leaves trifoliate, rarely simple. Blooms in may and June on the shoots of last year; in the second half of summer flowering is repeated until the cold on the shoots of this year, but weaker. Suitable for distillation in the winter. Recommended everywhere for vertical gardening and growing on balconies, verandas.
‘Louise Rowe’
Compact vine height 1.2-1.8 m lilac Flowers, 12.5-15 cm in diameter. Blooms in June – July, from early autumn to cold weather. Ideal for growing in containers.
‘Multi Blue’
Flowers 15 cm in diameter, dark blue color. Shoots up to 2 m flowers on the shoots of last year bloom in early June, on the shoots of this year – from July to September. Shoots for the winter removed from the supports and shelter. Flowering is very long. Are good in the vase life.
‘Nelly Moser’
The Patens Group. Variety bred in 1897 in France breeder Moser. Flowers open, star-shaped, 16-20 cm in diameter. Sepals 6 – 8, they are light blue-pink with a red-crimson stripe in the center. In the shadows, the stripes are most pronounced. Anthers are reddish-purple. Shrub vine length of 2.5-3.5 m. Leaves are threefold, rarely simple. Blooms in may and June on the shoots of last year; in the second half of summer flowering is repeated until cold. Recommended everywhere for vertical gardening.
