Garden Figures With Their Hands

It is good when a country house is a place where you can enjoy the fresh air, nature and the creations of your own hands. After all, we want our country house to be beautiful, so we do a lot ourselves, sometimes embodying fantasies in funny garden figures created with our own hands. Remember those times when the choice of “decorations” for lawns was very small. Back then, many people had never heard of the concept of” landscape ” and its man-made embodiment.

But times are changing, and today our cottages have green lawns, flowerbeds with tropical plants, garden ponds with fountains, wells with decorative log houses, elegant rose gardens, alpine gardens and the embodiment of many other ideas!

And in recent years, there has been a fashion for a variety of garden figurines, which can easily be bought in the store, but you can also make your own hands. They give the landscape an extraordinary charm, a certain “color” and emphasize the nature of its Creator. Cheerful and funny, and sometimes monumental, garden figures, especially made with their own hands, lift the mood, encourage and give the exterior personality.

Garden Figures With Their Hands

It can be funny gnomes guarding your cottage. A pair of magical birds that sat down to rest on the green lawn. Fabulous frogs and worms, with all amenities, are located on the shore of the pond. A variety of wildlife is created from improvised material. A mushroom plantation, modestly perched in a corner of the garden. And even fairy-tale characters can completely transform your lawn.

Of course, you can buy ready-made garden figurines made of gypsum or polyresin (artificial stone, made on the basis of acrylic resins), but it is much more interesting to make them with your own hands! Indeed, in this case, you can do what you want, realizing all your imagination. In addition, it is extremely fun, simple and almost free, as you can create garden figures from improvised material.

Now I present you some master classes on making simple rustic products.

Medieval stone castle

To build such a beautiful stone castle, you will need:

  • three old pipes
  • broken tiles or ceramic tiles (instead of tiles, you can use unnecessary DVDs, after breaking them)
  • two 1.5-liter (0.26 US gal) white plastic bottles
  • cement mortar.
  • Garden Figures With Their Hands

Bury the pipes in the place where you planned to build a mini-castle, cement their base and start the first masonry.

This will be the” tower ” of the castle. The length of the pipes and their location is at your discretion. When the first layer of masonry is properly dry (2-3 days), proceed to the next stage of masonry, forming the base of the castle. When the masonry reaches where you planned the windows, cut the plastic bottle vertically, place the halves on the pipe, and continue until you reach the edge of the pipes. The” roof ” of the castle is complemented by pieces of tiles in a mosaic. Now your medieval castle is ready. You can even experiment-build gates, arches, paths.

Funny Scarecrow: a nightmarishly beautiful creature

We are going to make a Scarecrow-it is a dummy, an ordinary scarecrow, but not just beautiful, but also very functional. It’s no secret that birds invade our crops – and then it comes to the rescue, over time you will get used to this scarecrow and stop being afraid of it. So let’s make it unusual.

    Garden Figures With Their Hands

    • Take two rods with a length of 2 m (6.6 ft) and 1 m(3.3 ft), fixing them crosswise, taking into account the fact that “on the head” you will need to leave at least 30 cm (11.8 in) and bury the same amount in the ground. The remaining rods will be the” body ” of the dummy.
    • Dress the mannequin as brightly as possible (the sample in the photo). You can fix the clothes with a regular furniture stapler.
    • Hang a bright hat on top and attach a small weather vane to his head.
    • Take some aluminum cans, make holes in them (you can drill them), hang the cans on a strong rope mixed with bells, and attach the rope to a horizontal rod.
    • Inflate several balloons and attach them to the” hands ” of the Scarecrow.

Everything is now a “security device”, ready for work and defense. From the slightest breath of wind, bells and cans will ring, and the balls will create the illusion of movement. Now your crops will not be afraid of any invaders. By the way, do not forget to put the dummy as close to the berries as possible.

    Tire Giraffe

You can also make a funny giraffe out of old tires and logs 1 m (3.3 ft) and 0.3 m (11.8 in) long.

1.The tires are half buried in the ground.
    2. We twist two logs together with an inverted letter ” L ” and bury the “symbol” next to the tire.
    3. Ears, eyes and nose are cut out of plastic bottles, painted and attached to the” muzzle ” of the giraffe.
    4. The tail of this model is a piece of old iron inserted into a previously made hole, but you can, of course, come up with something else.
    5. Then we paint the garden figure with bright acrylic paint. That’s it, our giraffe is ready!

    Deer from the branches

It is very easy to make such a deer from the branches left over from pruning trees and shrubs

    Garden Figures With Their Hands

To create this figure, make a strong, good wire frame in the shape of a deer and carefully cut off its protruding parts. Using this technique, you can make any shape, for this you will first need to come up with a sketch on paper, and then start working with the wire.

    Styrofoam ducks

Perhaps the easiest-to-use material for making garden figurines with your own hands is Styrofoam. Just keep in mind that the foam is very crumbly, so use only a very sharp knife and carefully cut off not only the base, but also the edges of your workpieces. By the way, you can not use ordinary glue, it corrodes the foam, so use a special glue for polystyrene, which is sold in any hardware store.

    Garden Figures With Their Hands

    1. Apply a pre-drawn sketch on a thick piece of styrofoam, for example, as in the picture above.
    2. Then carefully glue the parts of the duck, and to secure the legs and wings, cut a hole in the body, insert the workpiece and also secure with glue. All-the blank is ready. If necessary, you can slightly “shape” with a sharp knife.
    3. Before you start painting the figure, prime it with white putty, and then paint it with acrylic paints.

The result is such a nice little duck.

    Garden Figures With Their Hands

This technology can be used to make various figurines. As you can see, you can create garden figures with your own hands from absolutely any improvised material. Wooden and iron bars, plaster and foam, plywood and rubber, foam and stone, plastic bottles and iron cans, various remnants of building materials, etc., you only need to look around, dream a little and go ahead to create an original beauty on your country plot.
