The cleaning process at the dacha begins in early spring and does not end, perhaps, until winter. We constantly have to sweep away dry leaves and grass, collect garbage, keep the lawn in good condition and much more. It depends on these manipulations how neat and healthy our garden will be. And in order for cleaning to be effective and not take a lot of time and effort, you can purchase special tools as “assistants”. Let’s see what we need at each stage of cleaning.
Stage 1. Remove large debris
This moment will be especially relevant for general cleaning in early spring. Because it is at this time of the year, after the snow has fallen, not very pleasant things “come out” for everyone to see: large broken branches, remnants of Christmas tree toys, “stuffing” from firecrackers and fireworks, and just forgotten objects in winter. First you need to delete them. This does not require any strange tools: only hands (of course, in gloves) and garbage bags.
Interesting: since we are talking about working clothes for the garden, clogs (both insulated and ordinary), a raincoat or a suit that protects from rain, as well as knee pads will be useful during its cleaning.
With garbage bags , the situation is even simpler. You can use polyethylene, but it is better to take a stronger one – polypropylene for construction waste.
Stage 2. Remove debris from the lawn
After the successful completion of the first stage, we proceed to lawn cleaning. In order for the spring grass to delight with greenery, you need to collect last year’s leaves, the remains of dry grass and small debris, if it remained unnoticed before. We can’t do without a rake here.
It can be a standard rake with 12 teeth. It is better to use them if the plot is not cultivated, that is, there is no lawn.
Most summer residents still sow lawns and, in order not to harm them, choose a fan rake . They can be with round teeth or with flat ones. Almost all rakes have an adjustable handle height and the distance between the teeth. Very convenient small fan rake. With their help, you can easily collect fallen leaves, mown grass. And the smallest summer residents, full of enthusiasm and desire to work for the benefit of the future harvest, they are ideal for them in height and weight. And if you already have a rake, you can only buy a nozzle for collecting leaves.
Stage 3. We put in order flower beds and flower beds
Cleaning flower beds and flower beds is a more delicate process. It will not be possible to pass through it with a rake. You can damage densely planted plants. Therefore, the leaves are removed either manually or with the help of modern technologies. Most often, owners of large curly flowerbeds turn to a battery-powered blower. For example, the Greenworks G40BL model refers to semi-professional type equipment. It has the function of adjusting the air flow. The device is very convenient to use thanks to the rubberized handle, light weight and a good battery that provides long-term operation without recharging. The only “but” is that this blower cannot be turned into a garden vacuum cleaner. He does not have a hose attachment and a bag for collecting leaves.
In addition to the battery duct, there are garden vacuum cleaners that do not just “blow away” leaves and small debris, but suck it into a special container.

- equipped with a garbage bag (less than 50 l),
- it is made in the form of a satchel that can be worn on the shoulders.

Stage 4. Cleaning the garden paths
Paths and the territory in front of the house can also be put in order with a blower or a garden vacuum cleaner. Moreover, with the help of a familiar broom, which, like it or not, there are a lot of modern budget units.
Universal polypropylene brooms are suitable for working in wet weather. They are not afraid of moisture and dirt, they are easy to clean and also easily acquire their original appearance. They weigh little, which means that they can work for a long time and without interruption. The straw broom is made of grass twigs and equipped with a long wooden handle. This model is best used for “dry” cleaning.
What else would you need to clean the garden
On the site, especially during the cleaning process, garbage containers and household tanks are needed. They are intended for temporary storage of household waste – those that cannot be burned: plastic bottles, torn film from the greenhouse, cracked dishes, etc.
- Plastic tanks are made of frost-resistant materials. The most common volume is 60 liters. The lid with grooves for draining rainwater fits snugly to the base and prevents the spread of unpleasant odors.
- A garbage container with a capacity of 120 liters. It has a reinforced bottom and has the ability to move on wheels. And in order to completely eliminate the appearance of odor, you can put a special neutralizer drug in this or any other container.
In continuation of the conversation about containers for storing garbage from the entire site collected during spring cleaning, it is impossible not to mention composters. We burn some of the garbage, some is sent to a container and waits for removal by a waste processing company, and the rest – organic waste – can be put into use, i.e. put in a composter. There are many models of this device. The capacity also varies from 100 to 1000 liters.
- Biolan landscape composter “Stone” with a volume of 450 liters is suitable for processing food and garden waste, as well as waste from the toilet. Its distinctive feature is the aesthetic component: the composter is made in the form of natural stone, and the restrained gray color allows you to “get lost” in the riot of greenery.
- GRAF 600 does not stand out much from the plot either. The model resembles a large green box. The operation is simple: the waste is filled in through two hatches, the output of compost also passes without problems.
- The manufacturers of the DOORZ composter did not set the main goal to hide it in the shade of trees. This is a cylinder on a stand that can be rotated. Despite this, the design of this composter will not deteriorate. Moreover, it can be moved to any corner of the site.
And finally, remember the garden shredders. They easily crush weeds, branches, twigs, dry grass, etc. In the end, we get rid of a non-compact and spoiling the appearance of the territory of a pile of plant debris and the resulting mass, which can later be used as fertilizer, mulch or as fuel (wood chips).
- The AL-KO Easy Crush MH 2800 shredder is a budget option. Its body is made of plastic, but all other parts are made of steel or aluminum. It works well with branches, grass and leaves.
- Another model of the budget series is the WOLF-Garten SDE 2100. The principle of operation is similar, plus there is a self-tightening system.
