What does this give us? The answer to this question, at first glance, is very simple – harvest. But the truth does not always lie on the surface. For me, country life has always been associated with a healthy lifestyle, and for someone staying in nature gave a second youth. In general, get ready: the article will be about country lyrics…

We are what we eat

This topic has become not just relevant, but even fashionable in modern society. Healthy food, natural products, a balanced diet is what many people strive for, and what we, summer residents, have in abundance.

Nowadays, goods in stores do not stand up to any criticism – it concerns their taste and quality. Therefore, I try to make the most of the suburban area to obtain natural products. It so happened that from spring to winter, berries, fruits, vegetables and herbs from my own plot make up almost 70% of my diet, I have to buy only some products in the store. For me, the main argument to continue gardening is the opportunity to eat high-quality vegetables and fruits, knowing that they will benefit my health.

Drink the air and bathe in the sun

Even when I moved to live from the capital to the countryside, the capital’s suffocation did not let me go. The cure from the big city was gradual: at first a timid blush began to appear on my gray cheeks, then the number of colds decreased from ten to one or two a year, and eventually I had more energy, I stopped feeling constantly tired. All these positive changes took place gradually over the course of two years. I see several reasons for this: firstly, a more measured rhythm of life, and secondly, clean air and sun. The sun shines the same everywhere – you will say and be right, only in the city it is practically not visible. Well, it’s not even worth talking about clean air in a big city. So moving to the village has become a valuable contribution to my health. The first time in the morning I often went out into the garden and deeply inhaled the thick, dew-damp air – I can’t enjoy it in any way.

Movement is life

Aristotle wrote: “Movement is life.” And my grandfather said: “As long as I move, I live.” What does a great philosopher have in common with a simple worker who graduated from a rural school? The fact that both were right, although Aristotle put a deeper meaning into the concept of “movement”, and grandfather meant simple physical labor. By the way, my grandfather had to work really hard: six children, his farm with chickens and rabbits, a vegetable garden, several fields for potatoes. He lived to the age of 81, never having been to the hospital, because he was not ill with anything more serious than a cold. And to the end he retained his love of life, strength and courage. For me, he was and remains an example, and his slogan is always with me.

But in order for physical labor to really bring health, the load should be moderate. If you work in the garden all day, and in the evening you just fall off your feet, then such work will definitely not benefit. You will not get pleasure from such work. The golden rule: the size of the plot should be commensurate with your capabilities. If you can dig up 15 acres without batting an eye, and then plant potatoes in these areas, then go ahead. In my understanding, a garden brings health only if working in it brings joy.

Beauty heals

You sow seeds, plant seedlings and soon get flowering or fruiting plants – this is an amazing opportunity to feel like a Creator, even if only of your garden. And the results of your work will not take long to wait – for me it has always been a real miracle. Every time I feel awe and inspiration when I admire the work done, the flower garden or the apple tree that I planted. The garden gives me positive emotions every day – just stop for a minute and look around at my work, at the beauty that was created by these hands.

My aunt, who spends every free minute in the country from spring to the first cold weather, and in winter enthusiastically flips through photo albums with photos of her favorite plants, claims that the garden gave her a second youth and a new meaning of life (no matter how banal it may sound). And looking at how active she is now, I believe her. This does not mean that by regularly visiting her site, aunt miraculously recovered from diabetes or became younger, she just felt the joy of life again and rejuvenated her soul. It is not surprising that doctors, in addition to a number of medical prescriptions, give urgent advice: find an exciting hobby that will bring you joy. After all, a lifestyle filled with physical activity, new experiences and positive emotions.

A good night’s sleep – the basis of longevity

Have you ever noticed that in the village, the sleep and wakefulness regime returns to normal, and some even lose insomnia. In my nature, the desire to go to bed early to wake up appears by itself – and this is the right schedule for our body. And after working in the garden, you sleep much better and stronger. But what I’m getting at: sound sleep is the basis of well-being and longevity.

This is my fifth and final argument in favor of a suburban lifestyle. And what does country life mean to you? What benefits does a garden plot bring to you and your health?
