Even the most beautiful sweater will eventually get bored, and no matter how high its quality is, it will gradually wear out. It seems to be still nothing, but I don’t want to wear it anymore. It’s a pity to throw it away, but what to do with it? I suggest that you turn it into necessary and cozy things with a slight movement of your hand.

Simplicity is the key to success

Specially selected the simplest options in execution, which will not take a lot of time (it is always not enough for a summer resident), you will not need special skills, and you can even do without a sewing machine! True, I sewed on it, but only to speed up the process. In General, you can limit yourself to just scissors, a needle and thread — such a minimal set is found in every home!

Practical tips

Cutting even paper with blunt scissors is a torment, let alone thick knitwear! But you can sharpen them in a simple way-on a sewing needle. Act as if you want to cut a needle.

If the products are not one-time, then they will definitely survive washing. In this case, the sections must be processed, otherwise it will be difficult to catch the missed loops, and sometimes impossible. If you have a sewing machine, just lay the line in the smallest step along the edge — this will be enough. If you only have a needle at your disposal, sweep the edges manually. Yes, for a long time, but otherwise it is impossible.

The transformation begins

I took a children’s sweater, on which the youngest daughter managed to plant a stain of unknown origin, and it could not be removed by any of the available means and methods.

Carefully cut off the collar and sleeves with sharp scissors. Put the sleeves and “vest” aside, we will start with the simplest: we will make a Snood and a hat.

Hat and scarf

As promised, I will tell you the easiest way. In the photo I have a thick thread, but I took it solely for clarity, it is quite possible to do with ordinary sewing threads in several additions — for strength. We will work from the front side: fold the gate edges to each other. Make a stitch on one side, stretch the entire thread, leaving a tail of 10-15 cm — we will need it later. Alternately make stitches on both sides, but do not pull the edges of the gate. When you get to the beginning of sewing, just take the thread by the ends and pull — you will get a smooth seam.

Do not pull it too tight — the head should pass through the gate. Even without skill, the work can be done in half an hour, and we already have a warm practical thing. If you want, wear it as a warming bandage: sometimes it seems too early for a hat, but the wind is cold, and it doesn’t hurt to cover your ears. And as a scarf, our product will fully justify itself: if there is no hood, no matter how much you lift the gate, the cold still gets under your clothes. An ordinary scarf is inconvenient with long ends that try to catch on something, and our miracle product has no such drawback.

Hat

You don’t need a scarf — make a hat out of it. And again, we need a thread in several additions, since the seam will be pulled together. We work from the wrong side. We have two edges — one factory, the second raw, which turned out when we cut the collar from the sweater. The second one is stitched with a basting seam, pulled tight, and tied the edges of the thread into a strong knot (you can do it several times).

Straighten the folds, turn them out. The cap is ready. If it turned out to be deep, you can make a lapel, this will make it even more practical-the ears will be warmer) the

Sleeves inspired me to three ideas.

Gaiter

Of course, they are unlikely to be suitable for going out in people, but at home and in the yard it is quite possible to wear! It won’t take much time to make them, either. Turn the cut edge to the wrong side by 1.5-2 cm. We sew, leaving a gap between the beginning and end of the seam about 1 cm (in the photo I marked it with sartorial pins with bright heads). Attach a pin to a piece of underwear elastic band and stretch it into the drawstring. We pull the elastic band over the leg, but not too tight, otherwise it will be uncomfortable, we tie the edges or sew them together-as you prefer.

We put on gaiters and enjoy the warmth. They can also be adapted for other purposes.

Oversleeves

In the autumn season, there are a lot of things to do in the garden and garden, and if the sleeves of a work jacket without cuffs, they perfectly catch the wind. You can tuck the edges of the gloves under them, but this will only help for a short time: if you stretch or raise your hands, your wrists are exposed to the cold. In this situation, our leg warmers will be a godsend! Just pull them over your jacket and tuck the cuffs into your gloves. All.

You can safely reach out with your hands anywhere — your wrists are protected.

Pillow case

So we got to the most voluminous part of our sweater, which is asking for a pillow. There are two options: either it will be a seat on a chair (then the filler will be flat), or a decorative pillow (then it should be more voluminous). In principle, the case is the same for both. As a filler for the seat, you can take batting, cinetpon, use a drape from an old coat, put other unnecessary blouses or sweaters on it — everything will fit.

First, cut out the cover itself, do not forget to leave allowances for seams. If you want, decorate the front side (I took up embroidery again — I liked the combination of colors, and the process was fun: the stitches are the simplest, but the result is nothing, pretty). Then fold the parts face to each other, step back from the edge of 1-2 cm and sew (from the inside) three sides, leaving one unstitched. When the cover is ready, cut out several identical parts of the filler according to its size. Use large stitches to make sure the layers don’t crumple during use or washing. If you can’t put the stitches perfectly straight — don’t worry! Let it be so, no one will see them anyway!

It remains to put the cover on the pillow and carefully sew it up. Was it cute?

That wasn’t the end of the idea, but it was the end of the sweater. But nothing: if the theme of alteration will be interesting to you. I’ll find another sweater and we’ll continue. In the meantime, I would like to hear your opinion on the proposed ideas. What do you say?
