You can often worry about the fact that home flowers looked somehow frail, began to grow poorly, so let’s figure out how to fix it. In this case, it is worth trying to use yeast to feed the plants, making sure that this will have a very good effect on the appearance of the flowers. Let’s learn more about this method – why it is considered so effective.
What is so useful for yeast
It turns out that yeast contains a lot of useful substances, for example, they contain a lot of vitamin B. Well, it’s not for nothing that brewer’s yeast is prescribed to people who lack this vitamin. Yeast also contains other substances, such as phytohormones, which have a positive effect on cell division.
By the way, the use of yeast as a fertilizer for plants was studied by some scientists, who found out that by using such fertilizers, the earth begins to come to life, yeast fungi begin to develop in it, and they contribute to the enrichment of the soil with various substances that plants need. So yeast top dressing for plants is in no way inferior to fertilizers bought in a flower shop.
How to make fertilizer from yeast
To prepare a fertilizer from yeast, you need to take them about 10 g (0.35 oz), and in general, 5 liters (1.3 gal) of water will require half a pack of baking yeast. A little sugar is added to the solution at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 1 liter (0.25 gal) of water. If you do not have the usual ones at hand, then you can take dry yeast. In this case, to prepare a solution of them, you will need 10 g (0.35 oz) per 10 liters (2.6 gal) of water and 30 g (1 oz) of sugar.
It is very important to use fresh yeast. If they are overdue, you will not see the expected effect. After the solution has been prepared (it does not matter whether you used ordinary yeast or dry), it should be allowed to infuse for several hours. The resulting product is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:5 and watered plants.
But very often you should not give such a top dressing. Two treatments are enough (in spring and summer, or when transplanting flowers). Unfortunately, calcium and potassium are involved in the fermentation process, so it is advisable to combine yeast top dressing with ash top dressing.
