Garden accents are different, and they are good because you can build them yourself and from anything. And in the garden, there are no extra items, everything will go into action.
So, from an old watering can that has served its time, you will get a great garden vase. Flowers and tree branches that have been broken by the wind will find shelter in it — this composition will perfectly decorate a terrace or a recreation area. And this will not be a classic, familiar to the eye vase, but an unusual, original garden “image”. However, even without flowers, this decorative watering can will decorate any corner of the garden as well as the most intricate figurines. The main thing is to choose a bright, large and contrasting decor for it. For such purposes, you can use painting, but the most successful is a special “garden” decoupage, which will allow you to achieve very interesting special effects and will not require any artistic skills.
You will need:
- old watering can
- matte spray paint
- gold acrylic paint
- black facade paint
- craquelure gel
- decoupage paper with images of peonies, roses, or any other large flowers
- decoupage glue
- boat (yacht) varnish
- scissors
- sponge
- polyethylene
- brushes
Order of work:
1. On the galvanized surface, any finishing materials do not fit well, so for better adhesion, first cover the watering can with a matte aerosol varnish.
2. Paint the watering can with gold acrylic paint and dry it thoroughly.
3. Use a sponge to apply the craquelure gel. Dry.
4. Paint the watering can with black facade paint. Almost immediately, gold cracks appear on the surface against a black background.
5. Cut out images of flowers from the blend paper.
6. Soak the pictures in water for 2 minutes.
7. Take the pictures out of the water, shake them off, put them on polyethylene and apply decoupage glue on the back of them, then stick them on the surface of the watering can and dry them well.
8. Dip a thin brush in gold paint and draw the stems and bases of the leaves.
9. Cover the watering can with 2 coats of boat varnish and dry it.
Got an idea!
An old watering can can be turned not only into a vase, but also into a nice pot for succulents.
