Stages of proper processing of the room
The task is time-consuming, but you can not neglect any of the points listed below, otherwise all efforts may be in vain. The more thorough your actions are, the less likely insects are to sit in a secluded corner.
1. first of all, eliminate the possibility of bedbugs escaping from the room: treat the perimeter with one of the barrier protection products (aerosol, chalk, gel). In contact with the active substance of the drug, the insect will die.
2. wash your Bed linen at the maximum allowed temperature. If there are several sets, put the rest in a strong plastic bag for the time being, and send blankets, bedspreads, blankets, tablecloths, curtains, rugs, soft toys — everything that can be washed. If you can’t, take it to the dry cleaners.
3. If there are dishes and food in the room, the task becomes more complicated. Put everything in new strong plastic bags, examining each item, each jar, and seal it tightly. Take it outside or into another room.
4. Turn on the vacuum cleaner at full power and methodically vacuum all sides of the mattresses, beds, sofas, floors, walls, cabinets and other habitats that we discussed above. Roll up carpets and rugs to cover both the upper and lower sides, then send them to the dry cleaners. Collected insects should preferably be burned. If this is not possible, carefully pour the contents of the vacuum cleaner into a plastic bag and immediately tie the top tightly, leaving no chance for bedbugs to get out. Throw the package away.
5. You can now proceed to the treatment. Keep in mind that a single one will not be enough, depending on the chosen tool, you will need to repeat it from one to four or five times. So, if possible, stay in another room for a while. Or add a minimum of things that have been removed to it, so that the next time the preparatory stage takes less effort and time.
People’s ways of dealing with bed bugs
Unfortunately, they are more often aimed at repelling insects than at destroying them. Some methods are based on the intolerance of bedbugs to low (from -17… -20°C) and high (from +50°C) temperatures. In winter, you can turn off the heating-adults and larvae will live no longer than a day. It is impossible to say with certainty that the frost will destroy the eggs: there is no reliable information on this score. High temperatures are another matter: at +50°C, insects at any stage of development die instantly.
Fish oil, Laundry soap, long-term heating.
Turpentine. Bedbugs have poor eyesight, but a very good sense of smell. They react extremely negatively to sharp odors. Therefore, many people try to scare off insects with turpentine. Use in pure form-or with various additives, if they believe that the main smell is not enough. For example, camphor, kerosene, naphthalene, carbolic acid are mixed with turpentine — the amount and composition of the ingredients are at the discretion of the owner. The mixture is treated with a possible habitat of bedbugs, left for a day or two. This method has several significant drawbacks. First, on upholstered furniture and walls, this composition can not be applied: there will be spots. Secondly, even after repeated wet cleaning, the smell of turpentine will not disappear! And if you are allergic to any of the components of the mixture, it is simply dangerous to use it for your health!
Vinegar and herbal decoctions. Extremely time-consuming method. It does not destroy parasites, but only repels them. You will need 2-3 treatments per day, and the total period of exile will be 4 days. Even if you assume that the adults will leave, consider: their eggs will remain. Larvae appear quickly, 3-4 days after laying, and they are well able to survive: under unfavorable conditions for life, they are able to go into a state close to suspended animation. There is no reliable data on how long they can stay in it. In addition, you also need to be careful with decoctions: they can cause allergies and leave spots.
For those who still chose this method of resisting bedbugs, here is an approximate recipe. Fresh or dry raw materials (2 tablespoons) Pyrethrum cinerariifolium, wormwood, Lédum palústre or tansy pour 0.5 liters of boiling water, put in a water bath for 15 minutes. Filter, dilute with clean water (1: 20). The staff is ready. For processing with vinegar, take essence or 9% table vinegar.
Unfortunately, modern bedbugs are much more stable than those that were 20-30 years ago. Therefore, folk remedies often can not cope with them. What remains? Heavy artillery-chemistry. Of course, it is important to choose such a tool so that you can defeat the enemy on the spot, and do yourself as little harm as possible.
Modern insecticides
can be invited to the appropriate services, and they will carry out disinfection. But the bill for services is unlikely to please you. And not all companies give a guarantee for the work performed.
It is much easier and much more economical to carry out the processing yourself.
Processing will not take much time. Just spray the spray in places where bedbugs can hide: on the bed frame, on furniture (including the interior and adjacent to the wall), on radiators and window sills, skirting boards and other nooks and crannies that were listed above. Close the room for 15-20 minutes, then ventilate for a long time.
If bedbugs come to your house, do not hesitate, immediately start an active fight against them. And what tool to take to help, you decide.
