1. WelwÃtschia mirábilis
Definitely, this plant can be called strange and unlike any plant on our planet. On the surface, the plant is represented by only two leaves. The length of each of them reaches up to 4 meters (13.1 ft). Such an unusual plant grows in Namibia, and the main source of food for it is fog. Velvichia mirabilis can be attributed to centenarians, because the age of the planet can reach one and a half thousand years.
2. Dionaea muscipula
Do you recognize this plant? This flower has long been the hero of cartoons about insects. However, this is not a simple plant, but a flower for which insects are a source of food. The leaves of the plant emit a very pleasant smell that attracts its “victims”. As soon as an insect lands on an attractive plant, the trap closes in less than a second and opens for several days in anticipation of new food.
3. Amorphophallus
This flower of the Lily family impresses with its size. It consists of large petals and a giant head. Amorphophallus has a very unpleasant odor that attracts insects to pollinate the plant. The plant lives for a long time, up to 40 years, and blooms only a couple of times.
4. Wolffia
The plant is striking in its smallness. They are the smallest in the world and do not exceed the size of a match head. Wolfia grows in North and West America. The plant consists only of a stem, similar to a ball, floating freely on the water. Blooms very rarely.
5.Columnea consanguinea
And last but not least: an amazing plant – Columnea consanguinea – a living Valentine. The nature of the inhabitants of Nicaragua has simplified the search for valentines on the eve of Valentine’s Day. The decoration of this plant is bright red hearts on green leaves. Due to their coloring, the plants are very noticeable, and it is difficult for birds to fly past.
