New Technology: the Country of the Future

How do you see your country house in the future? Someone now probably remembers a long-standing dream of having a swimming pool, someone would like to have a greenhouse. But new technologies are penetrating not only into our daily lives – manufacturers of “smart” household appliances have already reached the gardens.

Three Russian entrepreneurs – Alexey Baranov (pictured below), Alexander Kurako and Vadim Denisov – once gathered, sat down and decided to create a joint business project, the pilot products of which the founders presented in March last year.

New Technology: the Country of the Future

The company bears the sonorous name of a medieval Italian mathematician or a sequence of numbers that this mathematician studied. Or maybe it’s just a beautiful word that doesn’t sound like him. In any case, the invention of the future is called Fibonacci.

Cottage as home appliances

Do you have a refrigerator? Perhaps now this household unit will have to make room. Because the next device in the cottage will be Fibonacci. And why do you need a compartment for storing vegetables now, if fresh lettuce leaves, arugula or cherry tomatoes can be taken directly from the “beds”? After all, everyone knows that during storage and transportation, vegetables, especially tender greens, lose not only their presentation, but also most of the useful vitamins and minerals.

New Technology: the Country of the Future

Now vegetables directly from the garden are available only to owners of suburban areas. But if you buy a new type of household appliances – a Fibonacci home farm, you will be able to grow herbs, herbs, vegetables and berries right in your kitchen. The creators of the home farm suggest that up to seventy plant species can be grown on it.

How this thing works

The Fibonacci Home Farm is a machine that relieves its owner of all the worries associated with growing vegetables. No sowing, seedlings, weeding, watering, pest control, microclimate control. All these concerns will be taken over by the on-board computer of the device. You will only have to choose, as in a dishwasher or washing machine, the mode – which vegetable you plan to grow, and press the “start” button. The home farm itself will monitor the lighting, watering and temperature, but there are definitely no pests in this wonderful cabinet.

Yes, you can observe your “garden” not only through the glass of a transparent door (by the way, capable of changing its tinting, if necessary, dim the bright purple light of a special phyto-backlight), but also using an iOS/Android application on any gadget. You will not miss when strawberries or radishes ripen in your garden closet.

It just might turn out to be a new social network: summer residents-farmers will share their successes with each other and regularly publish photos of parsley basking under purple LED bulbs on the shelf of a home farm in the kitchen.

Technologies

Growing plants takes place in an organic nutrient substrate, which is already “charged” with seeds – you only need to order the desired variety of lettuce or tomatoes. The soil is placed in a module cell equipped with a drip irrigation system that supplies water with nutrients strictly in accordance with the agricultural machinery selected for each plant species.

Lighting is produced by LED lamps tuned to the light most favorable for plants – from the blue and red part of the spectrum. Lighting-intensity and spectrum, as well as watering, are automatically selected according to the needs of the inhabitants of the wardrobe-bed.

The wardrobe-bed provides air convection, maintaining an optimal balance of heat and cold and ventilating its contents.

Design

A home farm looks exactly like modern household appliances. Chrome elements, glass, metal and plastic. Therefore, it will fit perfectly into the interior design of the kitchen, taking a place in the kitchen set along with an ordinary refrigerator.

And if you want, you can put such an “eco” bed not only in the kitchen, but also in the living room. The creators believe that the materials and design of the device “create an atmosphere of well-being and comfort” in your home.

According to the authors of the project, the Fibonacci home farm will solve the grocery issue of citizens, without unnecessary effort, providing them with fresh, environmentally friendly, organically grown with their own hands all year round (according to a survey conducted by manufacturers, a significant number of people who took part called the main reason for the interest in self-growing vegetables that no one else touched with their hands) vegetables, herbs and berries.

About sad things

Now that you have appreciated the advantages, beauty and functionality of this device, it’s time to find out the price of this “new word” in household appliances and agronomy in order to estimate the cost of a bunch of Fibonacci dill. The price depends on the size. For example, the Fibonacci AG-24 model, designed for 24 installations, will allow you to receive a family of 3-5 people per year:

  • 72 kilograms (158.7 lb) of strawberries;
  • 84 kilograms (185.2 lb) of tomatoes;
  • 576 bunches of lettuce.

The cost of such a unit is about $ 10,000. According to producers’ estimates, the additional costs for the harvest will amount to about $ 100 per month.

And are you, dear summer residents, ready to replace the usual garden beds with a smart miracle machine?
