Cottage dress code
An evening dress and heels or a man’s suit with a tie are incompatible things with a cottage. You can, of course, take fancy clothes with you and put them on shortly before the new year, but it is better not to burden yourself with such troubles.
Wear jeans, leggings, or comfortable pants. Complete them with a bright jumper, sweater or long wool tunic. Choose comfortable shoes for your home. Since you will spend a significant part of your time outdoors, your faithful helpers will be a comfortable down jacket or ski suit, as well as warm boots.
Decorate your new year’s outfit with a bright scarf, hat, mittens and you will be irresistible in the lap of nature! Don’t forget to bring your pajamas or nightgown, a change of underwear, a swimsuit or swimming trunks for the bath. If there are children at the cottage, be sure to take a spare set of clothes for them.

If you have invited guests to your holiday who have never been to your cottage or do not remember its location well, be sure to hand each driver a detailed map in advance, which can be put in a beautiful envelope with a fun and colorful invitation. This will fill your friends with enthusiasm.
If the path to your cottage is thorny and winding, it is better to arrange a meeting with all the guests at a certain time at a specified place (for example, at the exit from the highway) and accompany them by car to their destination.
The holiday scenario
So that guests who arrived at the cottage do not walk around your site with a bored face and the thought: “What am I doing here at all?”, be sure to think about the holiday leisure in advance. If the meeting of the New year in a city apartment is usually reduced to an endless sitting at the table, because of which all then hardly get out, then for a cottage holiday it is worth inviting guests early – for dinner on the 31st.
December, 31st
The first couple of hours will be spent on happy conversations, unpacking the brought salads and a contest for the best homemade decoration for the cottage. By this time, the bath should be in time – this is the best way to cheer up and cheer up.
After the steam room and swimming in snowdrifts, you can have a snack, and then go out again. By drawing lots, the person responsible for the preparation of the barbecue is appointed, who will monitor the grill and the degree of roasting of the meat. At this time, the others can split into groups and arrange a contest for the best snowman, or start another active game-snowballs or hide-and-seek.
It is better to move the main meal to the house to warm up and watch the President’s festive speech on TV (or tablet). And after the new year again in the yard!
Light a large fire: bright flames surrounded by a snow blanket look especially romantic, help to warm up and lift your mood. Now is the time for Christmas gifts.
After that, you can arrange a game of fun dancing, a contest for the best reader of poems, or try to compose your own funny quatrains. When the rhyme is picked up by a big cheerful company, it turns out very funny! Do not forget to write notes with cherished dreams and burn them in the new year’s fire – such wishes always come true! Guests will probably stay until the evening of the 1st. After a long new year’s morning, which usually stretches to lunch, it’s time to go for a walk. What beauty and silence all around! It’s great if you brought your Pets with you to the cottage – they will cheer you up with their games in the snow.
But don’t get bored! Make funny snow figures or take skis, sleds and go for a ride from the nearest hill. Forget about age! This fun leisure will fill you with happiness and charge you with positive emotions for a long time!
If after an active new year’s eve there is no such desire, you can come up with a more relaxed, but no less exciting activity – for example, blowing ice bubbles on the street. Place a soap solution with the addition of a small amount of glycerol, arm yourself with straws and create beauty! In the cold, soap bubbles are painted with an amazing ice pattern. It’s a fascinating sight!
After a frosty walk, it’s so nice to go into a warm house and sit down with a Cup of tea by the fireplace, share with each other funny stories from last year and tell about plans for the coming year. And at the same time come up with an additional scenario for the new year’s weekend, if suddenly the guests, filled with happiness and intoxicated with clean fresh air, want to stay longer at your wonderful cottage.
