To stop the moment, preserving “without loss” not only the charm of the moment, but also the “picture” itself-this is the main task of the photographer. Today we will tell you why the image is sometimes blurred and how to deal with it.

There are several reasons why the image in the frame is not sharp. This is usually called a blurred picture, which is obtained as a result of shaking the camera in the hands, which can be invisible to the eye, or from shaking the camera when you sharply press the shutter button.

To prevent this from happening, ensure that the camera remains stationary during shooting. It is possible to reduce the number of blurred frames if you hold the camera correctly, supporting the lens from below with your left hand and firmly fixing the body in your hands.

  • Press the shutter button gently, holding your breath.
  • As a fulcrum for the camera, you can use any fence, parapets, benches, lampposts or tree trunks in the garden.
  • But the best option is to shoot with a tripod, using the trigger cable, remote control or self-timer. This method is especially helpful in the morning or evening hours and in poor lighting conditions. In addition, images are sharper if the camera or lens is equipped with an image stabilizer.
  • In SLR cameras, it is useful to use the mirror lock function, the lifting of which causes the camera to vibrate at the time of shutter release.

“Wiggle” in the pictures most often occurs when the shutter speed is insufficient. There is such a rule: to obtain sharp pictures when shooting with hands, the shutter speed should be shorter than the inverse of the effective focal length of the lens. Therefore, when shooting, for example, with a lens with an effective focal length of 100 mm, for a sharp picture it is necessary to set the shutter speed no more than 1/100 sec.

In other cases, the blurred image is obtained as a result of the mobility of the subject itself. Blurring of the photo image of this kind occurs when photographing moving people, animals or birds, as well as when shooting any garden scene in windy weather. Leaves, branches of trees and shrubs, and especially flowers on high pedicels and grasses swing with every breath of wind. In such conditions, it is necessary to try to take pictures with the minimum possible exposure time, for which it is often necessary to increase the value of the light sensitivity of the matrix (ISO). Experienced photographers are advised to have in stock a piece of plastic film, from which you can quickly build a screen that protects a small subject from the wind. However, windy weather can be used for good, for example, to obtain unusual artistic photos of your garden.

The clarity of the resulting images also depends on the camera lens settings. At a closed aperture, the sharpness of the image deteriorates due to the phenomenon of diffraction, and at an open aperture, spherical and chromatic aberrations take effect. At the widest angle of the lens, image distortion also occurs.

For those who are not set up to understand the physical terms, you just need to remember that to obtain a sharp image, it is recommended to shoot at the average values of the aperture and focal length of the lens.

The image in the picture is blurred for another reason. The camera’s autofocus may miss the subject being shot, especially if it is delicate, such as a cereal inflorescence or a branch with leaves. The camera makes a mistake and focuses on the subjects of the background, and the main object is outside the zone of sharply depicted space. The trouble is that on the liquid crystal display the result of incorrect focus can not be seen. To catch this error, you should zoom in on the display.

There is another alternative — to use manual focus, however, for this you need to have good vision. Anyway, it is necessary to make not one, but several pictures of your favorite cereals to choose the most successful one at home.
