The Queen of Roses has no competitors. If you are unable to resist her charms, complete the decoration of the garden with lovely guests from the shores of Foggy Albion. At least because new English roses in recent years are less capricious and do not require special care.

Elegantly folded petals, pastel colors, nostalgic flower shape, maddening fragrance, abundant flowering – for this, rose growers have always loved David Austin roses. And the last of his novelties has another undoubted advantage – healthy foliage. Put the fungicide sprayer aside and admire these wonderful varieties in every way!

‘The Ancient Mariner’

Rose ‘Ancient sailor’ from the beginning of summer to frost, without the slightest hint of a break, delights with abundant flowering.

New Beauty: Austin Roses

The petals of very large cup-shaped pink flowers are elegantly curved towards the center. The fragrance is intense, warm, myrrh. A fully bloomed flower shows stamens, and the color of the petals varies from dark pink in the center to light at the edges. The bush will be good in the middle or in the background of flower beds and in single plantings.

‘Bathsheba’

Long elegant apricot-yellow climbing rose buds ‘Bathsheba’ open with flowers in the form of shallow cups, about 10 cm (3.9 in) in diameter. The petals are tightly gathered into exquisite rosettes: the front side of each is painted in a rich apricot tone with a barely noticeable rosette, and the underside is yellow. This play of color combined with the framing of lighter, cream outer petals creates the impression that the flower glows from the inside. The rose exudes the fragrance of myrrh, floral and warm, with a honey note.

‘Imogen’

Rose ‘Imogen’ is characterized by abundant flowering, but it is interesting to observe it even when it is still in buds. Narrow, with a pointed top, before opening they sharply “gain weight” and become more rounded. Light lemon-yellow petals are collected in classic deep purple rosettes with a button, medium-sized flowers. Over time, they fade to a creamy shade. The aroma is light, fresh, with apple notes. The bush is powerful, erect. The name of this variety was given by the heroine of one of Shakespeare’s plays.

‘Roald Dahl’

‘Roald Dahl’ David Austin dedicated the centenary of the birth of the famous English writer and screenwriter Roald Dahl. Reddish-orange buds of ripe peach color open, turning into cup-shaped rosettes of medium size and a lighter apricot tone. The bush blooms almost continuously, and the flowers, despite their elegance, withstand inclement weather. Light charming aroma of tea roses mixed with fruity notes. The bush is round and branchy, and a small number of thorns makes caring for sensual beauty extremely pleasant.

‘Desdemona’

Another tribute to the work of the famous English poet and playwright is the long—flowering rose ‘Desdemona’ is the owner of peach-pink buds and pure-white cup-shaped flowers (at the beginning of blooming, a pink blush is barely noticeable on them). Over time, they open up a little more – so that the stamens are visible among the delicate satin of the petals. Flowers exuding the scent of myrrh retain their shape even in rainy weather. A powerful, loose and wide brush will fit both into a traditional rose garden and a border made of a mixture of perennial plants.

‘Olivia Rose Austin’

“Olivia Rose Austin” is named after the daughter of David Austin Jr., so this is a really special rose. According to David Austin Sr., perhaps even this is the best rose from his collection presented to date. It represents an ancient form of flowers: cup-shaped buds gradually open into elegant cup-shaped rosettes up to 9 cm (3.5 in) in diameter. They are good at all stages of growth. The color is a charming delicate shade of pink. The fragrance of the rose is divine: it has a strong aroma with distinct fruity notes. It grows vigorously and blooms well.

‘The Poet’s Wife’

“The poet’s wife” is a magnificent rose with dark yellow flowers. Their shape is fascinatingly beautiful: a ring of neatly folded outer petals frames the inner petals, which are less strictly arranged. The bush is low and naturally rounded (it grows more in breadth than upwards), so it is ideal for flower beds in the foreground. The rose has a bright, rich aroma: at first lemon notes stand out clearly in it, with the age of the flower it becomes sweeter and stronger. David Austin dedicated this variety to his wife. And, if you didn’t know — Yes, this famous rose producer writes poetry!

Advice from David Austin:

Plant bush roses in groups – at least three bushes of the same variety. Such a landing looks more impressive than a single bush. The recommended distance between bushes in such groups is 50 cm (1.6 ft), between neighboring groups of different varieties of roses – 1 m (3.3 ft).
