Suppose you bought a rose when the opportunity presented itself, although it will not be possible to plant it in a permanent place soon. You can see that she has already woken up and issued shoots. Of course, in its packaging, the rose will not be able to wait 1-2 months before the establishment of suitable weather. Therefore, it simply needs to be transplanted into a pot so that it does not die.

Preparation of the seedling

When you take the plant out of the box, you see that its roots are tightly packed and wrapped in polyethylene, the ripened shoots are covered with a special composition that prevents transpiration (evaporation). The first and most common mistake of buyers is the removal of protective ” wax ” from shoots. You do not need to do this, since the coating layer is thin, and the buds will easily grow through it. Later, when the hot summer days come, the sun will melt the protection, and it will simply flow down.

The awakened rose should be removed from the plastic packaging, shake off the substrate and straighten the roots. Then we take a pruner and cut the roots, which look clearly broken, rotted or have other damage. After that, you need to shorten all the roots, leaving their length about two palm widths. This will give an impetus to the growth of the root system, overgrowing with thin roots.

If necessary, the aboveground part of the rose should also be shortened, leaving shoots 1-1. 5 palms long (2-3 buds) above the grafting site. This is done in order to make it easier for the roots to provide sufficient moisture and nutrients to the “tops”. It is not necessary to remove new shoots that have already grown by the time the seedling is purchased.

Landing

To plant a prepared seedling, you will need a suitable pot, expanded clay for drainage and any purchased soil (for seedlings, for indoor flowers, etc.). Since we mean that the plant will not stay in such a temporary container for long, the composition of the soil does not matter in principle. At the bottom of the pot, we pour a drainage layer — and plant the plant. Now there is no need to bury the place of vaccination, but it is critically important to do this later, when placing the rose in a permanent place.

Next, water the freshly planted plant with a solution of drugs prepared according to the instructions. This will reduce the stress of the transplant and help the rose to adapt to new conditions faster. A rose seedling, properly prepared and planted in a temporary pot, will resume development and will feel good by the time of relocation to the open ground.
