What is the base of your sink? Let’s be more creative! I propose to make a table under the sink in the loft style. We will reveal the beauty of iron and add wooden elements to it. And of course, we will make the base functional.

Our table consists of two types of materials-metal and wood. Specifically-from a metal profile pipe of 25 mm, metal tape, metal lugs for fixing wood, oak boards and plywood.

Making a frame

The frame of the table will be metal. Before cutting the profile, it is necessary to determine the required height of the base. We not only take into account the comfortable height of the table, but also take into account the height of the sink bowl, so that you do not have to lift your hands up every time. It is also important to clean the profile so that the metal frame looks neat. According to my idea, the frame will remain unpainted to preserve the natural color of the metal. I’ll just polish it up.

I cut the cleaned profile into 14 parts — 6 of them are longitudinal, 4 are transverse, and 4 are for the legs. I also prepared metal strips equal in length to the transverse elements. On them I will attach the guides for the drawers. At the junctions of the parts sawed at an angle of 45 degrees. So we get a smooth and neat welded joint. I also sanded all the sections so that there would be no dangerous and ugly bullies.

Now it’s time to put all the elements together. I’m welding the frame. The intermediate longitudinal ones are welded at the middle of the height. We attach metal strips for sliding cabinet guides. The lugs for fixing are welded on the inside where the wooden elements will be fixed. These are the upper, middle and lower horizontal lines, as well as the vertical lines on the sidewalls and on the back wall.

All welding seams should be well cleaned. Of course, the quality of my welding leaves much to be desired: I did not get perfect seams. But in my opinion, for the loft style, which is characterized by some rudeness, it is quite suitable.

When the frame is ready, it must be varnished. I used spray paint. It is very convenient and fast for them to work on the street.

Wooden elements-table top and drawers

We turn to the production of wooden elements of our table. For them, I chose an oak shield of the C grade. He has bitches that I like. In the loft style, such “defects” will look very harmonious. But since I want to get a flat surface, I will fill all the depressions in the form of dried knots with epoxy resin and sand them.

But first, I’ll give the shield the proper dimensions. The countertop will be mounted on top of the frame, so its dimensions will be slightly larger than the width and length of the base.

The side walls and bottom will be sunk into the frame frames, so their dimensions must exactly match the length and width of the frames.

We will also have an intermediate wall and an inner shelf. We attach the wall to wooden chopsticks, resting on the bottom. Its height is equal to the distance from the bottom to the inner shelf. The shelf itself will lie on a metal base.

All parts are sanded, chamfered and treated with oil for wood. This coating reveals the wood pattern well.

Now we will make sliding cabinets. I made their frame out of plywood. The height of the cabinets should be a few centimeters less than the distance from the bottom to the base of the shelf. Method of attachment-dovetail. Be sure to use carpenter’s glue.

The facades were made of oak shield. To do this, I sawed two blanks with a width of slightly less than 1/2 of the inner width of the frame. Height-from the wooden bottom to the middle metal longitudinal. To make the cabinets easy to open, I sawed holes in the upper part of the facades. When they are closed, the natural wood pattern of the facade will be framed by a shiny metal frame. All the details of the cabinets are also cut with oil. Attach the guides.

The inner shelf is laid on top of the metal longitudinal ones. The table under the sink is ready. I made it as a gift to a friend, so I installed the sink in her bathroom. Already on the spot, we brought the water and made a drain.

The loft-style table looks great with a white sink-bowl and fits perfectly into the home interior.
